One dead in tractor-trailer crash on Route 31 in Hunterdon County

EAST AMWELL TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – An 80-year-woman was killed after a tractor-trailer crashed into her car in Hunterdon County Wednesday afternoon, according to New Jersey State Police spokesperson Trooper Charles Marchan.

The crash happened at 12:39 p.m. on Route 31 southbound at milepost 15 in East Amwell Township, Marchan said.

A preliminary police investigation revealed that a Freightliner was traveling north on Route 31 and a Toyota, driven by Qaneta A. Zaafar, 80, of Lambertville, was traveling south on Route 31. The Freightliner then entered the southbound lanes and collided with the Toyota, Marchan said.

Zaafar suffered fatal injuries, Marchan said.
