One hospitalized after 2 tractor-trailers collide on I-78 in Hunterdon County

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – One person was hospitalized after a double tractor-trailer collision Thursday afternoon on Interstate 78 in Hunterdon County, according to New Jersey State Police Trooper Brandi Slota.

The crash occurred at 1:14 p.m. on I-78 eastbound at milepost 17.4 in Clinton Township, Slota siad.

A preliminary police investigation revealed that two tractor-trailers were involved in a collision which caused a fuel spill in the right and center lanes between milepost 17.4 and 17.8, Slota said.

One driver suffered a lower body injury and was transported to Hunterdon Medical Center. The other driver was not injured, Slota said.

Hunterdon County Hazmat responded and cleaned up the spill, Slota said.

The eastbound center and right lane were closed for approximately 4 hours, Slota said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
