Online petition started to get St. Mary’s School in Hackettstown back open

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – More than 300 people have signed an online petition to reopen St. Mary’s in Hackettstown.

Desiree Toro started the Change.org petition this week and she said, “We have created this petition for families wanting to join in on the fight to get St. Mary’s in Hackettstown NJ grades k-8, back up and running.”

“There is a need for more options in our area for our children’s education,” Toro said.

St. Mary’s School closed in 2013 because of low enrollment and lack of funds.

“We need as many signatures as possible to help us convince our bishop that there is not only a want for this opportunity for our community, but a need for it,” Toro said. “With a building half way through its renovations and soon enough, with the help of our community, up to code- lets gather together and do this for our children.”
