Overnight lane closures continue next week on section of I-78 eastbound in Warren County

WARREN COUNTY, NJ – The Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission’s 4.2-mile I-78 eastbound roadway segment is scheduled to be restricted to a single lane during overnight hours next week.

The scheduled travel restrictions are as follows:

  • I-78 Eastbound — Reduced to a single-lane (two of three lanes closed) from the I-78 Toll Bridge to the Routes 22/173 interchange (Exit 3) 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. (next day) Monday, July 13, through Friday, July 17. (NOTE: Friday overnight work will only take place in the event of rain during the week)

The lane closures will enable a contractor to repair/rehabilitate asphalt longitudinal joints between lanes along the roadway segment, which crosses through portions of Phillipsburg, Pohatcong Township, and Alpha Borough.  Backups and delays are not expected because the work is taking place during overnight hours when traffic volumes are lowest.

The scheduled lane closures are subject to change due to weather, emergency, and traffic considerations. Motorists are urged to allow extra time to reach their destinations, and reduce speeds and exercise caution when travelling through project work areas.
