Overnight roadway repair work to resume along both directions of I-78 toll bridge’s New Jersey approach Sept. 5

WARREN COUNTY, NJ – Overnight lanes closures are scheduled to resume along the I-78 Toll Bridge’s New Jersey approach highway Tuesday, Sept. 5, according to the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission.

The lane closures are need for repair/replacement of deteriorated asphalt joints along the busy 4.2-mile-long roadway segment between the toll bridge and the Routes 22/173 interchange (Exit 3).

The scheduled travel restrictions are as follows:

  • I-78 Westbound from the Phillipsburg/Routes 22 and 173 interchange (Exit 3) to the I-78 Toll Bridge
    • Tuesday, Sept. 5 — 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. (next day) — travel restricted to a single lane (one of two lanes closed)
    • Wednesday, Sept. 6 — 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. (next day) — travel restricted to a single lane (one of two lanes closed)
    • Thursday, Sept. 7 — 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. (next day) — travel restricted to a single lane (one of two lanes closed)
    • Friday, Sept. 8 — 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. (next day) — travel restricted to a single lane (one of two lanes closed)
  • I-78 Eastbound from the I-78 Toll Bridge at the Delaware River to the first New Jersey exit — Phillipsburg /Routes 22 and 173 interchange (Exit 3)
    • Tuesday, Sept. 5 — 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. (next day) — travel restricted to a single lane (one of two lanes closed)
    • Wednesday, Sept. 6 — 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. — travel restricted to a single lane (one of two lanes closed)
    • Thursday, Sept. 7 — 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. — travel restricted to a single lane (one of two lanes closed)
    • Friday, Sept. 9 — 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. — travel restricted to a single lane (one of two lanes closed)

“Motorists are urged to reduce speeds and exercise caution when traveling through active work zones. Travel impacts — if any — should be minor due to low traffic volumes during overnight hours,” the commission said.
