Overnight single lane traffic pattern scheduled next week on section of I-78 eastbound in Warren County

WARREN COUNTY, NJ – The Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission’s 4.2-mile I-78 eastbound roadway segment is scheduled to be restricted to a single lane during overnight hours next week.

The anticipated travel restrictions are as follows:

  • I-78 Eastbound — Reduced to a single-lane (two of three lanes closed) from the I-78 Toll Bridge to the Routes 22/173 interchange (Exit 3) 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. (next day) Monday, July 27, through Thursday, July 30. Overnight work may be added to Friday, July 31, in the event of rain during the week.

The lane closures will enable a contractor to repair/rehabilitate asphalt longitudinal joints between lanes along the roadway segment, which crosses through portions of Phillipsburg, Pohatcong Township, and Alpha Borough. The project remains on track for an early August completion, weather permitting.

The scheduled lane closures are subject to change due to weather, emergency, and traffic considerations. Motorists are urged to allow extra time to reach their destinations, and reduce speeds and exercise caution when travelling through project work areas.
