Pedestrian struck and killed on I-287 in Somerset County, state police say

BEDMINSTER TOWNSHIP, NJ (Somerset County) – A pedestrian was struck and killed on Interstate 287 early Sunday morning in Somerset County, according to New Jersey State Police spokesperson Trooper Charles Marchan.

The crash occurred at 4:20 a.m. on Interstate 287 southbound at milepost 22.4 in Bedminster Township, Marchan said.

A preliminary police investigation revealed that a Mazda passenger car was traveling south on I-287 in the area of milepost 22.4 when the vehicle struck Juan S. Gonzalez-Genchi, 24, of Somerset, who was in the roadway, Marchan said.

As a result of the crash, Gonzalez-Genchi suffered fatal injuries, Marchan said.

The crash remains under investigation.
