Pedestrian struck, killed on Route 202/31 in Hunterdon County

RARITAN TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on Route 202/31 in Hunterdon County early Friday morning, according to Raritan Township Police Lieutenant Scott Nelson.

The crash happened at around 5:55 a.m. at the intersection of Route 202/31 and Commerce Street, Nelson said.

A preliminary police investigation revealed that a 64-year-old Flemington man crossed Route 202/31 from the southbound side of the road and as he attempted to cross the northbound side, he was struck by an Acura MDX, which was traveling northbound on Route 202/31, Nelson said.

The man suffered severe injuries and was transported to the Hunterdon Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries, Nelson said.

The Raritan Township Police Department and the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office are investigating the exact cause(s) of the crash, Nelson said.
