HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – A Tuesday afternoon crash ended with four people being injured after two of them had to be pulled from a wrecked car.

The crash happened at 3:53 p.m. at the intersection of Mountain Ave and East Ave in Hackettstown.

When officers arrived on scene, the driver and passenger of a 2015 Yukon were trapped inside the vehicle. First responders arrived on scene and both occupants were extracted in approximately 40 minutes, police said.

A preliminary police investigation revealed that the Yukon, driven by a 58-year-old woman from Washington Township (Morris County), was travelling northbound on Mountain Ave in the right turn lane for East Avenue, when she then made a left hand turn and was struck by a 2019 Ford, driven by a 41-year-old male from Hackettstown, travelling southbound on Mountain Ave, police said.

The cause of the crash then forced the Yukon into a traffic signal, police said.

The driver of the Yukon and her passenger, a 14-year-old girl from Washington Township (Morris County), suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Hackettstown Medical Center, police said.

The driver of the Ford and his passenger, a 26-year-old male from Oxford, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and refused medical treatment, police said.

The cause of the crash still remains under investigation.

The Hackettstown Police Department, Hackettstown Fire Department, and the Hackettstown First Aid & Rescue Squad were assisted by the Tri-County Fire Company, Independence First Aid Squad, Mount Olive Township Fire Marshals, Lakeland Emergency Squad, Saint Clare’s Paramedics, New Jersey Department of Transportation, and Jersey Central Power and Light.
