MANSFIELD TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) -The Hackettstown Rotary Club’s Annual Holiday Food Drive to benefit the NORWESCAP Food Bank was a huge success on Saturday, collecting over 1,800 pounds of food – including 87 turkeys and hams – and raised nearly $3,000 in donations.
Rotarians were stationed in the Panera Bread parking lot, on Route 57 in Mansfield Township, and gave shoppers an easy drop-off location. They didn’t even have to leave the comfort of their cars, either, because club members met them as they drove through the parking lot and removed donations of canned and dry foods, frozen turkeys, and hams from their cars.
Norwescap employees then packed the donations into a refrigerated truck and accepted the monetary donations that will assist the food bank in the purchase of additional food for distribution.
The food will be distributed to Norwescap’s pantry and feeding partners, to be provided to their neighbors struggling with food insecurity through this holiday season in Hunterdon, Sussex and Warren counties.
This annual drive has been held for more than 20 years and is one of the most important drives of the year for the Norwescap Food Bank.
