Police arrest man for threatening person with a rifle in Morris County

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Morris County man was arrested after he allegedly threatened another person with a rifle in Mount Olive Township, according to police.

On Sept. 27, 2023, at 8:10 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the Budd Lake section of the township for a report of a dispute between two men, with one man reportedly threatening the other with a rifle, police said.

the officer made contact with a man at the location, who was identified as Terrance Battle, 50, of Budd Lake. Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that Battle threatened the victim with a rifle, one of several weapons he had within the residence, police said.

Battle was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and aggravated assault. He was released pending a court appearance, police said.
