LOPATCONG TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – Police say the driver in a crash on Route 22 Thursday afternoon had a blood alcohol content more than 3 times the legal limit.

The crash happened on April 14, at around 1:13 p.m., on Route 22 westbound near the interchange Route 57 in Lopatcong Township, police said.

A Honda Civic, driven by 41-year-old Katherine Nardone of Easton, PA, and a flatbed tow truck came into contact with the concrete bridge railing, causing considerable damage to the bridge after coming in contact with each other, police said.

Nardone failed sobriety tests at the scene and was subsequently arrested for driving while intoxicated. She was found to have a blood alcohol content of .27%, more than three times the New Jersey state limit, police said.

Nardone was charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving, and failure to maintain lane. She was released to a friend pending a court appearance, police said.

The westbound lanes of Route 22 were closed for a period of time and the right lane remains closed pending repair to the bridge, police said.
