
Police: DWI arrest after driver flees traffic stop in Morris County
DENVILLE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – Police made a DWI arrest after locating a driver who fled a traffic stop on Saturday Denville Township.
On Feb. 25, at around 8:02 p.m., police stopped a vehicle on Righter Avenue after observing the vehicle make an improper turn, police said.
During the course of the stop, the driver, who was later identified as Wendy L. Rau, 63, Quakertown, PA, drove away from the officer when she was asked to exit her vehicle, police said.
In attempting to evade responding officers, Rau proceeded to drive her vehicle in a reckless manner. Officers were subsequently able to stop her vehicle on West Main Street and she was then arrested, police said.
Rau was charged with eluding police by motor vehicle, obstruction of justice, DWI, DWI within 1000 feet of school property, refusal to submit to breath testing, refusal to consent to breath samples, reckless driving, careless driving, failure to maintain lane, improper right/left turns, driving wrong way on one way street, open container of alcoholic beverage in motor vehicle, driving while suspended, and no valid vehicle insurance.
Rau was then lodged in the Morris County Correctional Facility pending a court appearance.
