Police find loaded handgun, marijuana during traffic stop

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) –  A traffic stop ended with a pair from Philadelphia being arrested Monday afternoon in Washington Township.

At 2:08 p.m., an officer conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 46 for a motor vehicle violation, police said.

While the officer was speaking with the occupants of the vehicle, who were identified as Blayne Davis-Chisholm, 24, and Denaydra Cheatham, 23, the officer allegedly detected the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle, police said.

Officers allegedly found a loaded 9mm handgun in the passenger compartment of the vehicle along with marijuana, police said.

Davis-Chisholm and Cheatham were arrested and transported to Washington Township Police Headquarters, police said.

Cheatham was charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and was later released.

Davis-Chisholm was charged with unlawful possession of a handgun and lodged in the Morris County Correctional Facility.
