Police: Hunterdon County man falsely reported his tow truck had been stolen

READINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – Police have charged a 55-year-old Whitehouse Station man after they say he falsely reported his tow truck was stolen.

Michael Muniz was charged on Aug. 25 with filing a false police report.

According to police, Muniz previously reported to an officer that a tow truck he owned was stolen by a citizen within the township.

After the officer conducted an investigation and interviews, the officer gathered evidence to prove that Muniz had falsely reported the crime, police said.

Muniz was released pending a court appearance.
