Police investigating after employee claims she was burned by smoldering dollar bill at Hackettstown McDonald’s

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – Police are investigating an incident where a McDonald’s employee was allegedly burned by a smoldering dollar bill on Sunday.

Police responded at around 10:24 p.m. to the McDonald’s, located at 202 Mountain Ave, in reference to a burn victim, police said.

Upon the officer’s arrival, the employee reported that an individual came through the McDonald’s drive-thru, and gave her a burnt dollar bill. After she received the money, she realized the dollar was still smoldering, which then allegedly burnt the palm of her left hand, police said.

The victim refused medical treatment at the scene, police said.

“The incident remains under investigation and no further information will be released at this time,” police said.

Assisting at the scene was Hackettstown Rescue Squad.
