Police investigating vandalism to Mendham Borough park sign

MENDHAM BOROUGH, NJ (Morris County) – Mendham Borough police are trying to find whoever is responsible for vandalizing a park sign.

On March 25, at around 11:43 p.m., a resident walking his dog near the basketball courts at the Borough Park heard power tools being used and when he went to investigate the sound, he heard multiple people laughing and talking, police said.

The resident observed at least one person of the group fleeing the area towards Park Ave, police said.

In the newly constructed octagon gaga pit, behind the basketball courts, the resident located the large green Borough Park sign, lying on the ground. One of posts had been cut off and was missing, police said.

The resident described the tool being used as a Sawzall type reciprocating saw, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Mendham Borough Police at 973-543-2527 or submit a tip through the Morris County Crime Stopper’s P3 app or call 1-800-743-7433.
