Police: Man charged with DWI after hitting 2 telephone poles

MANSFIELD TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – A Mansfield Township man is facing several charges including driving while intoxicated after he allegedly struck two utility poles last month, police said in a news release Monday.

Lars E. Haugaard, 20, was charged on Jan. 9 with DWI, reckless driving, failure to stay in marked lanes and careless driving.

On Dec. 19 at 2:56 a.m., Haugaard was traveling on Jackson Valley Road when his vehicle left the roadway and struck two telephone poles snapping one off at the base, police said.

Haugaard was released pending a court appearance.
