Police: Man had open alcohol container, cocaine and LSD in car
BYRAM TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) – The Byram Township Police Department arrested a man they say had an open alcohol container and various drugs, including cocaine and LSD, in his car.
On November 14, an officer observed a vehicle with inoperable license plate lights traveling on Route 206, police said.
The officer then stopped the vehicle and while speaking to the driver, who was identified as Alexander Santos of Landing, the officer felt Santos may be intoxicated, police said.
Santos was asked to perform several field sobriety tests, which he failed. He was then arrested and during a search, he was found to be in possession of cocaine and lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD). He was transported to the police station where he consented to and failed two breath tests, police said.
Santos was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD), possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while intoxicated, open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, careless driving, reckless driving, and maintenance of lamps, police said.
Santos was released to a family member pending a court appearance, police said.
