Route 15 lane closure and temporary traffic stoppages this week in Jefferson Township
Daytime closures needed for utility relocation
JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials Monday announced lane and shoulder closures, as well as temporary traffic stoppages, on Route 15 near the Weldon Road Bridge this week in Jefferson Township.
Beginning at 7:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 7 until 5:00 p.m. and continuing daily through Friday, December 10, JCP&L’s contractor, Henkels & McCoy, is scheduled to close the shoulder and right lane in both directions on Route 15 just north of the Weldon Road Bridge over Route 15.
In addition, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. each day, there will be a few temporary 15-minute stoppages of traffic in both directions. The closures and traffic stoppages are necessary to pull electric wire across the highway. New Jersey State Police will be on site to assist with traffic control. The utility relocation is part of advance work for a bridge replacement project, which is expected to begin construction in the spring of 2022.
The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website for construction updates and real-time travel information.
