Route 206 lane closures begin as a pavement preservation project begins in Somerset County
SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ – Overnight lane closures on Route 206 are scheduled for this week as a pavement preservation project begins in Somerset County.
From 8:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 11 through Friday, April 14, lane closures on Route 206 northbound and southbound will be performed using a moving operation between Brown Avenue in Hillsborough and Route 28 in Raritan.
The work will start with left lane closures at 8:00 p.m. and will move to the right lane as it progresses. At least one lane of traffic will be maintained in both directions.
The closures are necessary to remove raised pavement markers (RPMs). The pavement preservation work will include applying slurry seal and is expected to begin in May.
Motorists are advised to use caution, slow down, and expect delays while driving through the work zone.
This work is part of a $3.1 million federally-funded project that will preserve approximately three miles of pavement on Route 206 between Brown Avenue in Hillsborough and Route 28 in Raritan, Somerset County. This project is expected to be completed in fall of 2023.
The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website for real-time travel information.
