Route 46 daytime lane closures begin today for bridge deck repairs in Independence Twp.

INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials announced daytime lane closures on Route 46 with alternating traffic as a bridge deck repair project begins in Independence Township.

Beginning at 8;00 a.m., Tuesday, March 24, until 4:00 p.m., and continuing daily Monday through Friday for approximately two weeks, NJDOT’s contractor, IEW Construction Group, will close one lane on Route 46 and set up alternating traffic near the intersection of Cemetery Road and Alphano Road.

The closure will allow the contractor to repair and resurface the concrete bridge deck over railroad tracks just west of Cemetery Road, which is in poor condition. The project is part of a larger $17 million state-funded contract to maintain bridges in eight counties throughout North Jersey.

The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors.

Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website for construction updates and real-time travel information.
