Route 94 paving project set to begin Monday in Warren County
WARREN COUNTY, NJ – New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials Friday announced the beginning of a pavement preservation project on Route 94 in both directions between Kerr Road in Frelinghuysen Township and Cedar Lake Road in Blairstown Township.
Beginning at 8:00 a.m. Monday, May 18, until 6:00 p.m. and continuing daily for approximately four months, NJDOT’s contractor, Asphalt Paving Systems., will close Route 94 northbound at Kerr Road and set up an alternating traffic pattern for approximately one mile to begin road repairs and slurry seal application.
The following day, Route 94 southbound will be set up with an alternating traffic pattern for approximately one mile, beginning at Kerr Road, to repair and apply slurry seal to that side of the road. Work will alternate each day between Route 94 northbound and southbound until the entire length of road between Kerr Road, Frelinghuysen and Cedar Lake Road, Blairstown is completed. All lanes will be reopened to traffic each evening by 6:00 p.m.
Joint repairs will be made and Hot-Mix Asphalt (HMA) slurry seal will be applied during this pavement preservation project. Work will progress in one-mile sections that will require the alternating traffic pattern with flaggers stationed at both ends of the work zone and at each intersection within the project area. The sections of Route 94 northbound and southbound will be done consecutively.
The $2.3 million federally-funded project is designed to preserve and extend the pavement life, improve safety and enhance ride quality for motorists on approximately five miles of Route 94, in both directions, between Cedar Lake Road in Blairstown and Kerr Road in Frelinghuysen. The scope of work will include longitudinal seam repair, micro-paving of joints and pavement, and concrete and turf repairs. The project is scheduled to be completed in Fall 2020.
The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website for construction updates and real-time travel information.
