Scammer posed as Jordan Knight from New Kids on the Block

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – A fraudster posing as New Kids on the Block member Jordan Knight scammed a woman and now she faces charges.

On Oct. 3 at around 12:15 p.m., police responded to Anderson Cash Checking, located at 270 Main St, in reference to a fraudulent check, police said.

Through an investigation it was determined that Cynthia Salvadore, 42, of Mansfield Twp., NJ allegedly received a phone call from who she said introduced himself as Jordan Knight from News Kids on the Block. “Jordan” wanted to send her a $2,700 check to cash and send the money to a charity in Nigeria.

Salvadore received the check and cashed it at Anderson Cash Checking. She then deposited $2,000 into an account at a bank and purchased $700 in gift cards which those accounts were given to “Jordan,” police said.

Police determined that Salvadore was scammed. She was charged on Dec. 19 with third-degree cashing a bad check and possession of a forged check, police said.

Salvadore was released pending a court appearance.
