Scene cleared, no hazard after suspicious briefcase found in parking lot of Pohatcong Walmart

POHATCONG TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – All clear has been given after a suspicious briefcase was found in the parking lot of the Pohatcong Township Walmart Sunday afternoon.

Pohatcong police said they responded to the Walmart, located at 1300 Route 22, for a suspicious package located in the parking lot.

Officers arrived and observed what appeared to be a briefcase that was randomly placed in the parking lot, police said.

“Erring on the side of caution, officers began cordoning off the area and requested assistance from the Huntington Volunteer Fire Co., Phillipsburg EMS, and the New Jersey State Police Bomb Squad,” police said.

Police later determined that the item was not a hazard.

“We understand this may have caused an inconvenience to some, but we thank the public for your cooperation as your safety was our number one priority,” police said.
