Section of Route 604 in Warren, Sussex Counties to be closed for railroad crossing repairs starting Nov. 17

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – Hackettstown police announced a railroad crossing rehabilitation project requiring the closure and detour of Route 604 (Willow Grove St/Waterloo Rd) in Hackettstown, Allamuchy Township, and Byram Township.

Beginning at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, November 17, until 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 22, NJ Transit is scheduled to close and detour Route 604 in both directions between Bilby Road in Hackettstown and Continental Drive in Byram Township to replace the crossing located near Waterloo Valley Road in Hackettstown.

Once the roadway is closed, no traffic will be able to cross the railroad crossing and NJ Transit trains will still have access to the Hackettstown Train Station. Access will be maintained for all local traffic, police said.

Officers will be posted at each end of the road closures to assist with traffic during the work hours, police said.

Motorists are encouraged to plan an alternate route and to expect traffic delays in the area, police said.

The following detours will be in place:

Route 604 northbound detour:

  • Motorists to turn left onto Bilby Road
  • Turn right onto Route 517 northbound
  • Turn right onto Interstate 80 eastbound to Route 206

Route 604 southbound detour:

  • Motorists to turn left onto Continental Drive to Route 206 to Interstate 80 westbound to Route 517 southbound
  • Turn left onto Route 517 southbound
  • Turn left onto Bilby Road to Route 604

Hackettstown police recently announced a railroad crossing rehabilitation project that will require the closure and detour of Route 517 (High St) in Hackettstown and Independence Township.

Beginning at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, November 10, until 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 15, NJ Transit is scheduled to close and detour Route 517 in both directions between Bilby Road in Independence Township and Route 46 (Main Street) to replace the crossing located between Fourth St and Miller St in Hackettstown, police said.
