Slim Chickens set to open first New Jersey location in Hunterdon County on Jan. 11

FLEMINGTON, NJ (Hunterdon County) Slim Chickens, a leader in the “better chicken” segment of fast-casual restaurants, will continue the nationwide expansion of its 100% all-natural, fresh chicken and unrivaled flavor with its first location in New Jersey, set to open on Monday, January 11 at 39 Route 31 in Flemington.

Paul and Jay Patel have been in the franchise business for 30 years, operating as Jersey Boys LLC, with ventures in retail, wholesale, hotels and restaurants, including Dunkin’ Donuts and Checkers, in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The Flemington location is the first of 15 locations the Patel brothers will open in New Jersey. When the brothers were introduced to Slim Chickens’ food, they fell in love with the product and saw a brand that embraced Southern hospitality by attracting customers from all walks of life.

“The thing about Slim Chickens is that it appeals to everyone. I walked in the restaurant, and it was packed with people from kids to grandparents, from suits and ties to mothers with little kids,” said Paul Patel. The brand’s attractiveness is not just appreciated by a certain group of people — it attracts everyone and the food is exceptional. We look forward to introducing the community of Flemington and the state of New Jersey as a whole to Slim Chickens as we continue to grow with the brand.”

Aside from bringing its famous, delicious fried chicken and Southern-inspired sides to the area, the new Slim Chickens location in Flemington will also make a positive economic impact with over 75 new jobs anticipated for creation in the community.

The Flemington opening is one piece in Slim Chickens’ larger growth story. Since its founding in 2003, the brand has celebrated over 100 openings in 18 states, with an overall goal of opening 600 restaurants by 2025.

“Our freshly made Southern dishes and homemade recipes create loyal guests who feel good about the food they’re eating, and we’re proud to be able to bring the brand to New Jersey,” said Slim Chickens Chief Operating Officer Sam Rothschild.

By focusing on providing only 100% fresh, all-natural chicken tenders that are buttermilk-marinated, hand-breaded and always cooked fresh-to-order, the brand has committed to providing a “better chicken” experience that can’t be found anywhere else. In addition, a choice of 17 housemade sauces adds exceptional flavor and has earned admiration from both guests and critics alike. Slim Chickens also offers fresh sandwiches, salads, wraps and its signature chicken and waffles. To offset the savory side of the menu, rotating desserts served in Mason jars are also available.
