UPDATE: State police identify 2 killed on I-287 in Somerset County

BRIDGEWATER TOWNSHIP, NJ (Somerset County) – The two people killed in a singe-vehicle crash on Interstate 287 in Somerset County Thursday afternoon have been identified as 79-year-old Fred Vonrecklinghausen and 82-year-old Delores Vonrecklinghausen both of Livingston, Texas, according to New Jersey State Police Sergeant Alejandro Goez.

The crash was reported at 3:39 p.m. southbound at milepost 17.5 in Bridgewater Township, New Jersey State Police Sergeant Alejandro Goez said.

A preliminary police investigation revealed that a Honda CRV, driven by Fred Vonrecklinghausen, was traveling southbound, went off the roadway to the right, struck the guardrail end and then a concrete bridge support pillar, Goez said.

Fred and Delores, who was a passenger, both suffered fatal injuries, Goez said.

The crash remains under investigation, Goez said.
