
Suspect still on the loose after armed robbery in Wharton
WHARTON BOROUGH, NJ (Morris County) – Police are looking for a suspect involved in an armed robbery in Wharton Thursday morning.
Police said they responded to a call of an armed robbery at 9:48 a.m. in the area of Elizabeth Street, police said.
The man fled the scene in an unknown direction and remains on the loose at this time, police said. A description of the suspect was not released.
Police remained in the area Thursday and told residents to avoid the area if possible. Reports of a shooting are not accurate, police said.
“We are confident that the public is safe to resume normal activity,” police said Thursday evening.
The Wharton Borough Police Department and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office are investigating the incident.
