Suspicious man in liquor store leads to DWI arrest in Sussex County

BYRAM TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) – A man is facing several charges including driving while intoxicated after police were called to investigate a report of a suspicious male at the Byram Township Shoprite Liquors, according to police.

On November 15, police responded to a report of a suspicious male at ShopRite Liquors. When officers arrived, they encountered Zilvinas Bitinaitis who appeared to be intoxicated and after a further investigation it was revealed that he had driven to the business, police said.

Bitinaitis was asked to perform several field sobriety tests, which he failed. He was then arrested and transported to the station for processing where he refused to submit to breath samples, police said.

Bitinaitis was charged with driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit to breath tests, unregistered motor vehicle, driving while suspended, reckless driving, failure to surrender a suspended driver’s license, failure to install an interlock device/drive a vehicle without an interlock device, failure to notify change of address and suspended vehicle registration.
