Suspicious vehicle leads to DWI arrest in Sparta Twp.

SPARTA TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) – A Sussex County woman is facing several charges including driving while intoxicated after an investigation into a suspicious vehicle in Sparta Township.

Charlene Myers of Sparta Township was charged with DWI, careless driving, failure to maintain lane and failure to keep right.

On Jan. 18 around 11:40 p.m., a township officer responded to the Blue Heron Park and Ride for a report of a suspicious vehicle that was parked on the grass behind snow plows, police said.

Upon arriving, the officer observed a red Jeep, that had driven up the curb, sitting on the grass area. As the officer approached the vehicle, the officer observed one occupant in the vehicle, who was identified as Myers, police said.

The officer observed that Myers had slurred speech and bloodshot and watery eyes. The officer asked her if she had consumed any alcoholic beverages during the evening and she allegedly stated she had two beers earlier, police said.

The officer administered field sobriety tests to Myers and then upon completion of the tests, she was arrested for DWI, police said.

Myers was charged and then released to a sober adult pending a court appearance.
