Sussex County Community College to hold free health fair on May 10

NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – Sussex County Community College (SCCC) will hold a Health Fair on Wednesday, May 10, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Performing Arts and Health Sciences Building, rooms A207 and A208.

All community members are invited to attend free of charge.

The Health Fair is being organized by the Medical Assistant (MA) program at the College and will include the following screenings:

  • Blood Pressure
  • Blood Cholesterol
  • Blood Glucose
  • Hemoglobin Level
  • Heart Rate
  • Brief CPR Lesson
  • Height & weight

The Medical Assistants program at SCCC is one of only five programs in New Jersey accredited by CAAHEP, the nation’s largest accrediting body for Medical Assistants. The new program will begin this fall and interested students can contact Program Coordinator Susan Melik at smelik@sussex.edu.

Jay Edwards

Born and raised in Northwest NJ, Jay has a degree in Communications and has had a life-long interest in local radio and various styles of music. Jay has held numerous jobs over the years such as stunt car driver, bartender, voice-over artist, traffic reporter (award winning), NY Yankee maintenance crewmember and peanut farm worker. His hobbies include mountain climbing, snowmobiling, cooking, performing stand-up comedy and he is an avid squirrel watcher. Jay has been a guest on America’s Morning Headquarters,program on The Weather Channel, and was interviewed by Sam Champion.
