FRANKLIN BOROUGH, NJ (Sussex County) – A Sussex County man has been charged after police say he deposited a bad check at a Franklin Borough bank and then began withdrawing against the deposit.
Michael Springer, 35, of Vernon Township, was arrested and charged on August 12 with third-degree passing bad checks.
Springer allegedly deposited a check in excess of $3,000 to himself and began drawing against the deposit without verifying the check’s validity, police said.
Springer allegedly failed to provide due compensation to his bank after being advised that the check was not honored in July of 2021, police said.
Springer was charged then released pending his court appearance in Sussex County Superior Court in accordance with the NJ Bail Reform Act.
