Sussex County man arrested twice within two days in Hackettstown
HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – A 30-year-old Sussex County man was arrested twice within two days in Hackettstown.
On Friday, May 26, at around 9:22 p.m., police responded to the 200 block of Main Street for a report of an intoxicated male sitting in a vehicle, police said.
Upon arrival, officers observed a male sitting in the driver’s seat with the vehicle in park, ignition on and the vehicle running. While the officers were speaking with Michael Kane of Sparta Township, the officer detected the odor of alcohol, police said.
The officers also observed several empty miniature bottles of Fireball Whisky in the front passenger area, police said.
Kane was charged with possession of an open container of alcohol, and consumption of alcohol in a public area. He was released to a relative pending a court appearance.
Then on Saturday, May 27, at around 10:01 p.m., police responded to the 200 block of Main Street for a report of an individual asleep in the driver’s seat of a parked vehicle, police said.
Upon arrival, the officer observed Kane unconscious in the driver’s seat with the key in the ignition but the vehicle was not currently running. The officer also observed several empty miniature bottles of Fireball Whisky scattered on the passenger seat and floor of the vehicle, police said.
The officer was able to wake-up Kane and the officer detected the odor of alcohol, police said.
Kane was charged with driving while intoxicated, and possession of an open container of alcohol. He was released to a friend pending a court appearance, police said.
