Sussex County man faces two assault charges

FRANKLIN BOROUGH, NJ (Sussex County) – A Franklin Borough man is facing assault charges following two separate incidents in Franklin Borough, according to Franklin Borough Chief Gregory M. Cugliari.

Christopher R. Lynch, 40, was initially charged with simple assault on Monday evening after he was alleged to have assaulted a female who had a complaint of pain. He was then released on that charge, Cugliari said.

Then late Monday night, following an alleged verbal argument in front of a residence on Corkhill Road, Lynch allegedly struck the second victim in the mouth, near or after midnight Monday, Cugliari said.

The victim of that assault initially received treatment at Newton Medical Center but the injuries were significant enough that the victim needed to be transported to Morristown Medical Center for further treatment, Cugliari said.

Lynch was arrested on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. and was charged with one count of aggravated assault.

Lynch was turned over to the Sussex County Sheriff’s Department and transported him to the Morris County Correctional Facility pending a court appearance.
