Sussex County man pleads guilty to attempted sexual assault

NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – A Sussex County man has entered a guilty plea to attempted sexual assault, according to Sussex County Prosecutor Francis Koch.

Daniel M. Szluka ,47, of Branchville Borough pled guilty to second-degree attempted sexual assault before the Honorable Michael C. Gaus, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on May 13, Koch said.

According to Koch, Szluka attempted to have the victim, who was younger than sixteen years of age but older than thirteen, engage in sexual penetration at his direction during text conversations.

Szluka is scheduled to be sentenced August 5 before the Honorable Michael C. Gaus, J.S.C.

Szluka was represented by Andrew Delaney, Esq. and Anthony Iacullo, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Brent M.
