Sussex County man pleads guilty to false 911 call
NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – A Sussex County man pleads guilty to making a false 911 call to report his car stolen after being involved motor vehicle crash, according to Acting Sussex County Prosecutor Annmarie Taggart.
Timothy Durgin, 28, of Stanhope Borough pled guilty to fourth-degree false public alarm on Jan. 3 before the Honorable Michael C. Gaus, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton, Taggart said.
In pleading guilty, the Durgin admitted to knowingly making a false call to 911 specifically to report his car being stolen after being involved in a motor vehicle crash, Taggart said.
Durgin is scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 24.
The case was investigated by Tpr. P. Pimental of the New Jersey State Police.
