
Sussex County man sentenced to 8 years in prison after fatal DWI crash
NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – A Sussex County man was sentenced to eight years in prison following his guilty plea in a fatal drunken driving crash, according to Acting Sussex County Prosecutor Annmarie Taggart.
Attila Princz, 42, of Sparta Township was sentenced on March 17 before the Honorable Michael C. Gaus, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton, Taggart said.
Princz was sentenced to eight years in New Jersey State Prison, and must serve 85% of the sentence before he is eligible for release. In addition, he must also pay mandatory minimum fines and fees, mandatory minimum loss of license, mandatory minimum interlock device installment, Taggart said.
Princz had previously been sentenced on a related DWI charge in addition to the mandatory five years loss of license on the vehicular homicide charge. The DWI charge had a sentence of four months loss of license, nine months of interlock, twelve hours of Intoxicated Drive Resource Center, and $690.00 in fines and fees, Taggart said.
Princz pled guilty on Jan. 11 to second-degree vehicular homicide and driving while intoxicated. In pleading guilty, he admitted to driving under the influence of alcohol which subsequently led to a head on motor vehicle accident in which resulted in the death of the victim, Taggart said.
Princz was represented by Ryan J. Clark, Esq., and the State was represented by Special Deputy Attorney General and Acting Supervising Assistant Prosecutor Brent M. Rafuse.
