Sussex County man sentenced to probation for possessing child pornography

NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – A Sussex County man was sentenced to probation for possessing child pornography, according to Acting Sussex County Prosecutor Annmarie Taggart.

Clark Cornwell, 33, of Hamburg Borough was sentenced on Nov. 12 before the Honorable Michael C. Gaus, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton, Taggart said.

Cornwell was sentenced to 4 years probation, in addition to the standard conditions of probation, he must complete 200 hours of community service, forfeit items that were seized, submit DNA, required to continue with Mental Health treatment, follow any and all recommendations, and pay fines and fees, Taggart said.

Cornwell pled guilty on May 20 to third-degree possession of child pornography and in pleading guilty, he admitted to being in possession of child pornography on his cell phone, Taggart said.

Cornwell was represented by Richard Baldi, Esq., and the State was represented by Special Deputy Attorney General and Acting Assistant Prosecutor Brent M. Rafuse.
