SUSSEX COUNTY, NJ – Sussex County officials Monday are reporting 64 new COVID-19 cases and 2 additional deaths.
Sussex County Freeholder Director Sylvia Petillo and the Sussex County Division of Health (SCDOH) announce announce that they have been notified of four additional COVID-19- related deaths in Sussex County, a 71-year-old man and a 74-year-old man both from Andover Township.
The deaths are announced as they are reported to and verified by the SCDOH, not necessarily on the date that they occur, health officials said.
The Sussex County Division of Health (SCDOH) has been working with those individuals who came into contact with these patients. Those identified as close contacts are in their homes under self-quarantine and being monitored by the SCDOH staff.
The Sussex County Board of Chosen Freeholders and the Sussex County Division of Health said they extend their condolences to both patients’ family and friends during this difficult time. The SCDOH is taking all possible steps to ensure the health and safety of our community, and asks for the public’s cooperation in following all recommendations put forth by county, state, and federal agencies.
A 68-year-old woman, a 93-year-old woman, a 96-year-old woman all from Newton, a 63-year-old man from Vernon Township, a 75-year-old man from Sparta Township, a 77-year-old man from Hopatcong Borough, a 73-year-old man from Andover Township, a 92-year-old man from Sparta Township, a 80-year-old man from Newton, a 76-year-old man from Vernon Township, a 56-year-old woman from Byram Township, a 68-year-old woman from Hampton Township, a 90-year-old woman and a 94-year-old female both from Newton, a 78-year-old man, an 86-year-old man both from Andover Township, a 67-year-old woman from Frankford Township, a 74-year-old woman from Sparta Township, a 78-year-old woman, and a 75-year-old woman both from Andover Township, an 84-year-old woman, a 74-year-old man, a 70-year-old woman, a 92-year-old woman, a 68-year-old man all from Andover Township, a 90-year-old man from Newton, an 88-year-old man from Sparta Township, a 59-year-old man from Montague Township, a 85-year-old woman from Frankford Township, a 73-year-old woman from Andover Township, an 85-year-old man from Andover Township, a 95 year-old man from Frankford Township a 74-year-old man, a 63-year-old man, a 60-year-old man, a 78-year-old man, a 52-year-old man, a 61-year-old man, a 73-year-old woman, a 70-year-old woman, and a 61-year-old man all from Andover Township, an 84-year-old woman from Andover Township, a 97-year-old man from Frankford Township, a 63-year-old man from Sparta Township, a 59 year- old man, a 65-year-old man, a 61-year-old man, an 83-year-old woman, a 78-year-old man, and a 66-year-old woman all from Andover Township, a 78-year-old man, a 70-year-old woman, a 75-year-old man all from Andover Township, and a 96-year-old woman from Newton have all been additional COVID-19-related deaths, officials said.

The names, addresses, medical history and other personal identifying information of these residents will not be released or shared with the community, officials said.
The Sussex County Division of Health is the lead agency for investigation of confirmed cases of COVID- 19, which includes contact tracing. During case investigation, the SCDOH determines which persons are close contacts, as defined by the New Jersey Department of Health, and makes the appropriate recommendations to those individuals.
