Sussex County Skylands Ride acquires new bus to service county residents

SUSSEX COUNTY, NJ – The County of Sussex is proud to announce that a new bus has been added to the current Skylands Ride fleet to serve Sussex County residents in need of community transportation.

Skylands Ride has become a lifeline for many passengers, making it possible for them to get to essential medical appointments, dialysis and other life-saving treatments, employment and job training. Dedicated drivers provide nearly 90,000 rides and drive more than 650,000 miles on the road each year to provide these essential services to county residents, including throughout the pandemic.

Sussex County Skylands Ride continues to provide deviated fixed route services through Public Connect on weekdays and Saturdays, as well as demand-response transportation service to access employment, medical appointments and equipment, prescriptions, food and other essential services.

The acquisition of this new bus, purchased by the Federal Transit Administration and NJ Transit, is extremely needed in order to provide safe, quality, accessible transportation services for Sussex County residents.
