MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Sussex County woman is facing several charges including driving while intoxicated in Mount Olive Township.
On July 8, at 11:43 p.m., Officers on Route 46 observed a Nissan Altima pulled off the roadway onto the grass on the shoulder of the road near EZ Storage and the vehicle appeared to be disabled, police said.
An officer made contact with the driver of the vehicle and immediately detected an odor of alcoholic beverage coming from the passenger compartment of the vehicle. The officer also observed an open bottle of alcohol on the front passenger seat, police said.
While the officer was speaking to the driver, who was identified as Kathryn Lederhaas, 45, of Sparta Township, the officer observed slow movements and slurred speech. She was then asked to exit the vehicle to perform standardized field sobriety tests, police said.
Upon completion of the investigation, Lederhass was arrested and transported to police headquarters for processing where she submitted to chemical breath testing, police said.
Lederhass was charged with DWI, open alcoholic container, and reckless driving. She was released to a sober driver pending a court appearance, police said.
