Sussex County woman struck and killed on Route 28 in Bridgewater Township

BRIDGEWATER TOWNSHIP, NJ (Somerset County) – A Sussex County woman was struck and killed in Bridgewater Township early Sunday morning, according to police.

The crash happened on June 5, at around 12:46 a.m. on Route 28 westbound near Vanderveer Road, police said.

According to police, a 2008 Lexus, operated by Yan Yan Han, 59, of Bridgewater Township, struck Kelsey Benson, 28, of Hopatcong Borough who was walking on Route 28.

Members of Robert Wood Johnson Hospital Paramedic unit responded to the scene to render aid to Benson, but she ultimately succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time, police said.
