
Sussex Post Office reopens after fire
WANTAGE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) — The Sussex New Jersey Post Office reopened Tuesday morning after sustaining minor damage to the front of the building during a shopping center fire Sunday morning, according to United States Postal Service spokesperson George B. Flood.
The fire was reported shortly before 10:00 a.m. at 455 Route 23.
A preliminary investigated revealed that the fire originated at Betty Brite Cleaners, which is located next to the post office, state police said.
Several businesses suffered minor smoke and water damage, state police said.
No mail was affected and there was no impact on mail delivery, Flood said.
While cosmetic work and repairs to the front of the Sussex Post Office, located at at 455 State Route 23, will be ongoing, regular business hours will be maintained: Mon-Fri 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Sat 7:30 a.m.- 1:00 p.m. Passport appointments and photo service hours are also unchanged at Mon-Fri 9 a.m. – 2 p.m, Flood said.
