Texas man indicted for homicide in Hunterdon County

FLEMINGTON, NJ (Hunterdon County) – A Hunterdon County Grand Jury returned a four-count indictment on July 29 charging a Texas man for the murder of 43-year-old Ricardo Menezes De Castro, according to Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renée M. Robeson.

David L. Rodriguez, age 45, of Alamo was indicted for one count of first-degree murder, two counts of second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and one count of third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He remains in the Warren County Jail, Robeson said.

On January 23, at around 12:37 p.m., state troopers responded to the report of a shooting at the Pilot Travel Center in Union Township. Upon arrival, troopers discovered the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds inside the Travel Center convenience store, Robeson said.

De Castro was transported to the Hunterdon Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries. Rodriguez remained at the scene and was arrested, Robeson said.
