Texas man pleads guilty to aggravated manslaughter in Hunterdon County

FLEMINGTON, NJ (Hunterdon County) – A Texas man charged in January 2021 pleaded guilty last week to aggravated manslaughter, according to Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renée Robeson.

David L. Rodriguez, 45, of Alamo pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree aggravated manslaughter before Hunterdon County Superior Court Judge Angela Borkowski on June 22, Robeson said.

On January 23, at around 12:37 p.m., state troopers responded to the report of a shooting at the Pilot Travel Center in Union Township. Upon arrival, troopers discovered the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds inside the Travel Center convenience store, Robeson said.

De Castro was transported to the Hunterdon Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries. Rodriguez remained at the scene and was arrested, Robeson said.

Rodriguez is scheduled to be sentenced on August 26, Robeson said.
