Tractor-trailer driver airlifted after overturning on I-80 in Warren County

HOPE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – A truck driver was airlifted to a hospital for serious injuries following a crash on Interstate 80, New Jersey State Police Sergeant Lawrence Peele said.

The crash occurred on Tuesday at 12:33 a.m. on Interstate 80 westbound at milepost 11.4 in Hope Township, Peele said.

A preliminary police investigation revealed that a tractor-trailer overturned blocking 3 lanes. The driver of the tractor trailer, whose name was not released, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to an area hospital for evaluation, Peele said.

The westbound lanes were closed for approximately four and half hours, Peele said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, Peele said.
