Traffic stop leads to drug charges for Hackettstown woman
MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Hackettstown woman is facing charges after drugs were allegedly found in her vehicle during a traffic stop in Mount Olive Township.
On Aug. 26, at 11:49 a.m., a township detective observed a vehicle travelling on Route 46 failing to maintain a lane and following too closely. The detective stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver, who was identified as Jessica Mcmickle, 39, police said.
Mcmickle allegedly appeared to be under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance and was asked to exit the vehicle to perform standardized field sobriety tests, police said.
When the tests were completed, Mcmickle allegedly dropped a glass pipe and stepped on it. She was arrested and a search of her vehicle was conducted. During the search, the detective located suspected heroin, crack cocaine and capsules of gabapentin, police said.
Mcmickle was charged with possession of schedule I-IV controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with evidence, and possession of a prescription legend drug without a prescription.
Mcmickle was released pending a court appearance.
