Traffic stop leads to seizure of 127 pounds of marijuana in Morris County

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – The New Jersey State Police have arrested a South Carolina man and seized $317,500 worth of marijuana following a motor vehicle stop on I-80 in Morris County

On January 5, Trooper Anthony Bertucci stopped Gabino Lopez, 36, of North Charleston for a traffic violation westbound on Interstate 80 at milepost 25 in Mount Olive Township, state police said.

During the stop, Trooper Bertucci discovered that Lopez was in possession of 127 pounds of marijuana, state police said.

Lopez was charged with possession of marijuana over six ounces and possession of CDS with intent to distribute. He was lodged in Morris County Jail pending a detention hearing, state police said.
