The Easton-Phillipsburg “free bridge” is scheduled to be restricted to single travel lanes in each direction (one of three lanes closed) 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, and Thursday, Sept. 21, according to the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission.
Brief travel delays are possible, the commission said.
The travel restriction is needed so work crews can install equipment to complete a new programmable, color-changing architectural lighting system on the bridge, the commission said.
This work — the final element of the Northampton Street Toll-Supported Bridge Rehabilitation Project — is expected to reach completion next month, the commission said.
A lane-closure hiatus had been in effect at the bridge since mid-May, the commission said.
